“Business In Our Town” is a WordPress.org based theme which allows to create a list of businesses (or anything else–depends on your needs) plus it comes with spare two custom post types which you can use as extra stuff for your site.
Prehistory
I was asked by municipality of one small town to create a website where owners of local businesses could advertise their enterprises and services while the townsmen could have one place on Internet where they could find easily list of all available businesses in their town.
The task seemed me pretty interesting but due to certain circumstances I had to refuse the municipality’s offer and could not take this job. However, the idea was sitting steadily in my head and I decided to release it as a theme available on ThemeForest–I have a hope that it might be useful for such local organisations. In fact I tried to widen the borders and made it more flexible than primary task required. It means that this theme is not obligatory should be used for the listing of business only–any similar list where image, description, personal details like phone, email or whatsoever are suitable can be placed instead.
What theme does consist of?
So, the list of businesses or whatever you will decide to use it for, are actually normal WordPress posts. Single post page may use a list of custom fields like phone, email, map, image, video. But it is not a must–these custom fields might be filled in or might be not–it does not affect the entire look of the page.
Besides regular posts I created also two custom post types for publishing other type of posts (on my demo they are Deals and Jobs). These posts do not interfere with regular posts, come as separate stuff and again, you may use them or skip using-depends on your needs.
There is also a page with hidden for unregistered users content–of course immediately visible for those who signed up. On this page site admin may publish information accessible only by registered users, you know, sometimes not everything should be visible to everyone…
Also, each page shows full set of available categories and subcategories what might be useful for heavily categorised content like you see on my demo site.
Well, you decide what to do with it and how to use it, me just hopes that you will find the appropriate appliance for this theme.
Technical details
Theme was tested on Windows and Mac (all latest browsers), accessibility ready, scales down to 1024px. For mobiles I would recommend WPTouch plugin (free and available for downloading in WP repository) or just extend media queries in style.css which currently end at 1024 px.HTML valid, Theme check plugin does not show errors, warnings and recommendations.

Please pay attention!
Accidentally I have made a typo in one of the files, hence you do not see one option in WP Customise. Please do next thing: open in WP Editor customise.php file (located in “functions” folder) and find line 170: ”// Heading 1 On Index Page”. Take a look at the line right below it:
$wp_customize->add_section('virtuti_heading2', array(
Please replace digit 2 with digit 3, the line should look this way:
$wp_customize->add_section('virtuti_heading3', array(
Update file. Now you can see and change the title of blog index in Customiser. Sorry for inconvenience!
